Erick Lindgren was born on August 11, 1976, and is a highly competitive person. He was an MVP basketball player and All-League quarterback in high school and now puts his energy into becoming the best poker player he can be. He keeps a close eye on his rivals in order to improve his game, and considers his rivals to be young and talented players like Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu.
Erick Lindgren has done well so far in 2007. He began the year by winning the Aussie Millions tournament in mid-January, earning one million Australian dollars. He cashed four times at the World Series of Poker, and was in the top 20 three times.
One area that Erick was never competitive in was academics. He dropped out of college in his second year in order to become a gambler. Erick started off as a blackjack dealer and did that until he was able to make his way into the poker world.
Erick Lindgren won his first major victory in 2002, when he emerged victorious at a $3000 No Limit Holdem Tournament, earning over $228,192. Erick’s poker career took off after this win. Erick won a WPT event ten months after his victory at the Bellagio and six months after this victory Erick won the WPT PartyPoker Million III Cruise event and the $1 million first prize.
Erick started another great series of cashes in 2005, beginning when he finished second in a WSOP Circuit Event in Atlantic City. A month later, Erick finished fifth in a WPT event and a week after that Erick won a Professional Poker Tour Event. In the space of five weeks, Erick won around $800,000 in three different tournaments. Erick Lindgren has continued to have success after success at the poker table.
Erick also wrote a book in which he gives advice on playing tournament poker, entitled World Poker Tour: Making the Final Table.
