Daniel Negreanu was born on July 26, 1974 in Toronto, Canada. He is the son of Romanian immigrants who have always been supportive of Daniel and who simply want him to follow his dreams. Thanks to their support, Daniel chose to follow his dreams and become a professional poker player, dropping out of high school one credit shy of graduating.
Daniel Negreanu is a young and talented poker player who is frequently called “Kid Poker.” In 2007, he cashed twice at the World Poker Tour and twice at the World Series of Poker. He had a 2nd place finish at the WPT and a 3rd and a 5th place finish at the WSOP.
Daniel moved to Las Vegas when he was 21, but lost his bankroll and was forced to return to Toronto to begin again. In 1997, Daniel Negreanu returned. He won two events at the World Poker Finals at the Foxwoods Casino and afterwards was named “best all-around player.” In 1998 Daniel Negreanu won the $2000 Pot Limit Holdem event at the World Series of Poker, becoming the youngest player to win a WSOP bracelet. Daniel would hold this title until 2004 when another young gun came up with a big win.
Daniel Negreanu won the 2004 World Series of Poker Player of the Year Award thanks to his great play that year. As a testament to his greatness, Daniel has won prizes of $50,000 or more in 25 separate tournaments and he won almost $4.4 million in tournament prizes in 2006.
Daniel Negreanu has been a regular on many different poker TV shows, such as High Stakes Poker, Late Night Poker, and Poker After Dark. Daniel enjoys helping other players and has written articles for Cardplayer Magazine and he also was a writer for Doyle Brunson’s Super System II.
Daniel is also part of a poker video game, Stacked with Daniel Negreanu. This game was released in 2006 and is a very good poker video game.
